Neither of these guys is slowing down with 90 seconds left. Ewell throws a spinning back kick to the head that lands some, but he’s out of position, and a wild exchange ensues. Rivera is throwing hard, but Ewell is not slowing down with his attack. The pace picks up considerably with 3 minutes remaining, and Ewell is finding success. Ewell finds a nice rhythm and is sharp with combos. They settle down, and Rivera might be looking to counter if Ewell is aggressive. The pace is high in the first minute between these two. Rivera comes with a spinning back kick to the body and then follows up with a head kick on the reset. Round 3 – Both men attack the body in the early going until Ewell throws an up-kick that snaps Rivera’s head back. It’s a frantic pace again to finish the round, but again Ewell just gets the better of it. Ewell lands a nice three-punch combo, which has Rivera retreating, but Rivera responds with a hard left hand that lands on the chin. He’s got Rivera on his heels with 1 minute remaining. Ewell controls the center of the cage and is trying to pick his spots. Ewell does appear to be breathing heavier as we reach 2 minutes left. It’s one punch at a time now for both men, fewer combos. Ewell keeps attacking the body, but now Rivera is first to the punch. He misses a spinning back kick, but he follows up with more hooks that get blocked. Rivera throws a big left hand that just misses, but he lands a nice leg kick. Ewell opens up with more jabs, and Rivera tries to close the distance but gets countered by Ewell, who appears to be pacing himself this time and isn’t too aggressive. Round 2 – They exchange front kicks in the early going, both men sizing each other up. A lot of action in that one, but Ewell had the knockdown and landed more. They’re circling on the mat for control, but Ewell remains on his back, although Rivera reverses in the final 10 seconds. Rivera goes for a takedown, which is stuffed by Ewell, who advances to taking the back. It’s become a back-and-forth affair, and Rivera lands a flying knee of his own that gives Ewell pause. Ewell looks a little tired and has slowed, but he’s still being aggressive. Rivera catches his composure after eating some serious shots. Ewell goes to the body, and the pace slows down after a frantic 2 minutes. Rivera shows he can take a punc, and now Ewell is firing on all cylinders, and he throws a flying knee that lands. Ewell lands a hard left hand that drops Rivera, and the action is fast and furious now between them with Ewell attacking constantly. They settle down momentarily before Rivera throws a head kick that Ewell blocks. Rivera answers with a throw, and Ewell throws a counter 1-2 combo. Round 1 – They meet in the center of the cage but look to size each other up for about 15 seconds before Ewell throws to the body. Rivera drops to the canvas, and Nam pounces with ground-and-pound, and he gets the finish. Rivera throws an inside leg kick that is immediately countered by a hard right hand by Nam. Round 2 – Rivera takes the center of the cage immediately. Nam works the body nicely to close out the round. Rivera gets punched on the way out, though, and Nam throws a nice four-punch combo. Superman punch misses by Rivera, but a follow-up knee lands. Rivera lands a nice leg-kick, and you can see the damage on Nam’s knee. It’s pretty clear, though, that Nam is looking for the right hand, and he lands it at the 2-minute mark, which stuns Rivera, who recovers and continues circling on the outside. Nam seems to be looking for a big knockout punch, while Rivera is throwing kick-punch combos to keep distance. Nam is being the aggressor, with Rivera on the outside of the cage circling. Both men start picking their spots about 90 seconds in. Things slow down, though, as a feeling-out process ensues. Round 1 – Rivera throws a quick front kick to get things started.
